We are Rui and Jessica, husband and wife and passionate hatmakers with a dream to bring back to life our small family business: Maraus.

At Maraus, we design custom-made hats, offering the opportunity for our customers to leave their own prints on their next hat.

Hand-crafted hats are art itself, and we love to share this experience with others, so we have created Experience Maraus and the Maraus Pop-up Experience.

This is Maraus, more than hats.

Our Story

Our story starts with António Marau, Rui’s grandfather. Originally from Brasil, he began working as a young man in his uncle and aunt’s hat shop, learning the art of hat making and expanding the business further as he struggled to supply for his wife and two young children.

Marau was a talented hat maker, who would find creative ways to supply every customer with the hats they wanted. Rui did not get to meet his grandfather, but fed his creativity and passion for design surrounded by the tools and materials at a work bench his grandfather left in an old atelier.

Today, we both want to bring back the care and expertise Marau once shared in the art of hat making with you, creating unique hats with a print of passion.

Maraus Pop-Up Experience

At Maraus, we like to be close to our customers to create custom-made hats. Our Pop-Up Experience allows us to fully understand what you would like, take your measurements, and discuss what you look for in your next hat.

We will start making your hat right there and then bring it to our atelier for final touches.

The hat is then delivered to you.
